#ThrowbackThursday: CELEBRATING HIP-LIFE LEGEND OBRAFOUR

Michael Eliot Kwabena Okyere Darko is a Hip-Life legend popularly known as OBRAFOUR from
Ghana. He believes he was born with music and with a touch of his mother being a chorister.

Obrafour realized the emergencies of hip-life artists like Lord Kenya, Ex Doe, Chicago and more, so he decided to do something different from these pioneers and created his own style. He was also inspired by Reggie Rockstone's  "maka a maka" album.

He met Edward Nana Poku a producer best known as Hammer through auditions and performances.Hammer helped secure Obrafour a good deal with Abraham Ohene Djan  (OM studios) for his first album 'Pae mu ka' which was a great success in the late 1999.

He then released the first rap gospel ever to hit Ghana titled 'enye Nyame a' which ended as a controversy due to the act that DJs did not know whether to play it as hip-life or gospel but hopefully that got sorted out followed  by releasing a single titled MAMME in remembrance of his late mother. This song is said to be ageless ageless because it gets played every mother's day and it always sounds like a new tune.

He organized  two platinum project based on indiscipline and (H.E.L.P) which helped raise millions of cedes for charity, scholarships and more.
His heavy album landed his three awards, including artist of the year and hip-life video of the year.

Obrafour has come a long way and he was paved way for young musicians. He inspired artists like Sarkodie,Pappy Kojo.Obrafour recently did a song with Sarkodie titled saa okodie no and M.anifest which was also titled no short cut to heaven. Both songs were a success.
